6 Day Top End Experience
Day 1
Pick up the car and make your way south to Berry Springs for a morning swim then continue to Litchfield National Park making a stop at the historic Bamboo Creek Tin Mine. Next stop is the beautiful Wangi Falls. Overnight camping either at Wangi Falls through the National Park or a 5 minute drive you have Litchfeild Safari Camp where camping is also available.
Day 2
A short drive you will be at Tolmer Falls then from there a swim at Buley Rockhole and Florence Falls down the road then make your way to the Magnetic and Cathedral Termite Mounds. Continue through the town of Batchelor and make a stop at Adelaide River, here you can see Commonwealth Graves Cemetery. You’ll also find a huge amount of information about World War 2 and the impact it had on Australia. Overnight you can travel to Pine Creek where there is serveral campsites available.
Day 3
Travel to Katherine for a morning cruise or canoeing this needs to be booked beforehand. Then in the afternoon heat make your way for a swim at Katherine Falls. Overnight Edith Falls camping available through national parks.
Day 4
Make your way to Kakadu you will need to take the 4x4 track into Maguk (Barramundi Gorge) for a swim in the clear fish filled waters then make our way to yellow waters for a sunset cruise. There are plenty of camping options around Cooinda region including Cooinda, Mardukal campground and Jim Jim Billabong.
Day 5
Take the challenging 4x4 drive to Jim Jim and Twin Falls for a refreshing swim at Jim Jim and a hike to some stunning views at twin falls.
Make your way to Nourlangie region. Here there are good examples of Aboriginal rock art. For the more adventurous is a 4x4 track to Nanguluwurr art site this is a less visited site and has good depictions of early detailed boat paintings.
Overnight at Jabiru or Malabanjbanjdju (some mosquitoes here).
Day 6
Join the Guluyambi Cultural Cruise on the East Alligator River (book in advance) then make your way to Cahills Crossing then onto Ubirr rock to see stunning rock art and great views over the flood plains before returning to Darwin.
